Top Album of The Month – Night Driver by Busted

After 12 years, Busted have finally released a new album! And I can tell you now their sound may be different from what we accustomed to but it is definitely the Busted we know and love. The best way to describe the album is “OneRepublic meets Daft Punk.” Highlights of the album include On What You’re OnComing Home, and New York.

Top Track of The Week – Cranes in the Sky by Solange

Beyoncé’s younger sister has finally made a return to music with a new sound in the form of “A Seat at the Table” which is arguably one of the best albums of the year. Solange’s track “Cranes in the Sky” is an awesome throwback to 70s soul music with a unique edge. From all the bland albums that have been released since the beginning of 2016, “A Seat at the table” is rather refreshing to hear something this unique. “Cranes in the Sky” is my favourite song of the record.

Top Ten Ellie Goulding Songs

I’ve been a massive fan of Ellie Goulding since 2009 when I heard Under The Sheets on the radio. Months later she won the Critic’s Choice at the Brit Awards and has blown up over the Globe. Here are my top ten songs by Miss Goulding which are based on my own opinions. As a side note – I’m not including songs featuring Ellie Goulding but I am including soundtrack songs as she has done her fair share.

BEATING HEART – Divergant: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2014)BURN – Halcyon Days (2013)STILL FALLING FOR YOU – Bridget Jones’ Baby: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2016), GUNS AND HORSES – Lights (2010)

10. LOVE ME LIKE YOU DO – Fifty Shades of Grey: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (2015)

To be honest this song is completely over-hyped. That said its a great pop ballad that showcases Goulding’s vocals. In addition the music video completes it as a whole.

9. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN – Halcyon (2012)

This tune was the first single off Goulding’s sophomore album, Halcyon. This song tapped more into Ellie’s indie routes and gave her a strong introduction to her second album.

8. LIGHTS – Lights (2010)

Lights is a very quirky pop tune. Although this tune wasn’t a hit in the UK, it did introduce Goulding to the International market and helped propel her into stardom.

7. FIGURE 8 – Halcyon (2012)

Once again, Goulding gives us an awesome indie tune in the vain of Florence + The Machine. Although it wasn’t a massive hit, It has become a fan favourite that Goulding still performs on tour.

6. STARRY EYED – Lights (2010)

Starry Eyed, although was Ellie’s second single, this was the tune that made Goulding a star in the UK. Starry Eyed is was one of the first of many indie pop tunes that defined Goulding’s sound.

5. ARMY – Delirium (2015)

I love this song from Goulding, it highlights how much she cares about people including her best friend (who she wrote this for). This is a very powerful song and is a feel good for everyone who’s feeling down.

4. HERE’S TO US – Girls, Vol. 3 (Music from the HBO original series) (2016)

Though it is not an official single and has no music video, “Here’s To Us” is a great song to listen and sing to. What I love about it is that as its is about loss and reminiscing about the past and it can be interpreted to different meanings which a lot of people can relate to it.

3. UNDER THE SHEETS – Lights (2010)

This was the first song that introduced me to Miss Goulding, and it made me love her instantly. Back in 2009 there were so many new musicians coming out with the same type of music and Ellie swooped in with this unique sound that made her stand out in that sea of pop stars.

2. EXPLOSIONS – Halcyon (2012)

This song is probably the most heartbreaking song she released. As it was about her Dad it made me relate to my relationship with mine which is quite strained. Its a great pop ballad that people can belt out or have a little cry to.

1. ON MY MIND – Delirium (2015)

Some people might find this song a bit controversial for #1 but I absolutely love it. I know a lot of old fans of Goulding’s have complained that she sold out a bit with songs like this but as an artist I think it is vital to experiment with different genres and evolve their sound. This song is a proper pop tune but it still has that Ellie Goulding sound that we all know and love. I think its that Guitar rift throughout the song that got me more than anything.
